Cambodia Fencer Attends Athlete365 Career+ Workshop
Phnom Penh, 10 September 2025
The Fencing Federation of Cambodia (FFC) was represented at the Athlete365 Career+ Workshop held on September 8–9, 2025, at the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC). The workshop was part of the International Olympic Committee’s Athlete365 Career+ program, designed to support athletes in preparing for their professional journey beyond sport.
The two-day workshop brought together Cambodian athletes from different disciplines for interactive sessions and group activities. Topics covered included self-discovery, understanding personal interests and passions, exploring compatible career paths, and building one’s own legacy. Practical training was also provided on developing CVs, resumes, and personal statements, equipping participants with skills essential for future career opportunities.
A fencer from CamED Fencing Club, appointed to representing Cambodia Fencing, Mr. VUTH Kuykim, joined the program alongside athletes from other federations. Through discussions and exercises, participants were encouraged to reflect on their strengths, passions, and transferable skills, helping them to identify pathways for success both within and outside the sporting arena.
“Attending this workshop helped me realize the importance of planning for my future beyond competition, while also thinking about the legacy I want to build,” Kuykim said. “It was also a valuable opportunity to learn alongside other athletes and to see that many of us share similar challenges and ambitions.”
The workshop emphasized the importance of holistic athlete development, highlighting that sporting careers, while impactful, are often limited in duration. By preparing early and understanding their broader potential, athletes can ensure smoother transitions into new roles in society, whether in professional careers, leadership positions, or community initiatives.
For Cambodian fencing, participation in programs like Athlete365 Career+ reflects the federation’s commitment to the long-term well-being of its athletes. By encouraging fencers to broaden their perspectives, the FFC aims to foster a generation that excels not only in sport but also in personal and professional development.
This initiative marks another step forward for Cambodian sport, building a foundation that supports athletes in pursuing excellence both on and off the piste.
