Cambodian Youth Fencing Team Heads to 2026 Southeast Asian Minime Junior and Cadet Championships in Malaysia

Phnom Penh, 9 August 2026

A total of six Cambodian youth fencers have received official permission from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport to participate in the SEAFF Minime, Cadet and Junior Fencing Championships 2026. This regional event will take place from August 6 to 14, 2026, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

For this year's competition, the Southeast Asian Fencing Federation has updated its rules to include categories for younger children. Based on these new conditions, the tournament is divided into three age divisions:

·       Minime Division: For boys, girls, and youth under 14 years old.

·       Cadet Division: For youth aged 13 to 17 years old.

·       Junior Division: For youth aged 13 to 20 years old.

This tournament serves as the foundational level of official international fencing competition. Therefore, the participation of the Cambodian delegation and youth athletes provides a crucial opportunity to gauge their abilities, gain international experience, and refine their techniques to compete for medals for the nation while preparing for future major events.
