FIE Athletes’ Career Transition Programme

Phnom Penh, 21 October 2026

The International Fencing Federation (FIE) is preparing to launch the FIE Athletes’ Career Transition Programme, a major new initiative designed to support fencers as they prepare for life beyond competitive sport.

Aligned with the core objectives of the FIE Strategic Plan 2025-2028, this programme reflects the Federation’s ongoing commitment to athlete development both on and off the piste.

To ensure the initiative directly meets the real-world needs of fencers worldwide, the FIE is inviting all licensed international athletes to participate in a global survey to help shape its core offerings.

Developed in close collaboration with relevant FIE Commissions and the FIE Fencing Academy, the programme is currently proposing structured online training and practical education across six key professional tracks:

  • Coaching;

  • Refereeing;

  • National Federation administration;

  • Technical support;

  • Media; and

  • Competition and event organisation.

Have Your Say

Before finalising the initial curriculum and schedule, the FIE wants to hear directly from current and former fencers. The brief survey takes less than 10 minutes to complete and asks fencers to rate their interest in the roles, identify scheduling preferences, and highlight additional skills they wish to develop.

TAKE THE FIE ATHLETE SURVERY HERE

The survey is open until the 10th of November. Your feedback will directly define the initial online modules.

Participants who complete the upcoming online training modules will earn official certification recognised by the FIE.
