H.E. Te Laurent and Mr. Sok Ang attended the Cambodian Olympic’s General Election Assembly

The National Olympic Committee of Cambodia hosted the General Election Assembly to vote for the new executive members for the 9th term (2026 – 2029) on March 19, 2026, at the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia meeting hall. The Fencing Federation of Cambodia, a member of the National Olympic Sports Federation, was also invited to attend. Therefore, H.E. Te Laurent, the President of FFC, was accompanied by Mr. Sok Ang, the Secretary General. In this participation, the President expressed that he is so happy to meet other NFs’ member who are from the Cambodia sports family and who collaborate in the development of sports in Cambodia. H.E. also recommended Mr. Sok Ang, Secretary General, on behalf of a national sports federation, to participate in the development of sports and to participate in the promotion by creating more videos about Fencing. Through Western International School as well as Western University, it is necessary to encourage more training.
In addition to attending the end-of-term general assembly, FFC submitted Mr. Sok Ang as a candidate for the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia executive members for the new term.
Mr. Sok Ang, a former fencer, has served in the Fencing Federation of Cambodia since 2006. He was elected as Deputy Secretary General in 2007 and elected as Secretary General in 2009 for a second term of FFC. From 2007 to 2011, he also served as the Technical Officer and Deputy Director of International Relations. During his work in NOC of Cambodia, He used to be appointed as the Chef De Mission to lead the Cambodian delegation to participate in The Asian Indoor and Martial Art Games in Thailand 2009, The Asian Games in China 2010, and Chef De Mission Meeting of the Asian Beach Games 2010 in Omen, and Chef De Mission Meeting for the Asian Winter Games 2011 in Kazakhstan. In addition, Mr. Sok Ang is in charge of OS projects and communicating with the IOC, OCA, other NOCs, IFs, and other International Organizations. In terms of education, he completed a Bachelor of Laws and a Master's Degree of Public Administration, as well as the International Coaching Program in fencing from the Hungarian University of Sports Science. He also successfully defended his project with the IOC for the International Coaching Enrichment Certificate program organized by Delaware University, US. In fencing, he joined many international fencing coaching courses, Fencing administration and Management courses, Fencing Tournament organizing Course, Sports safety, Strength and conditioning, and some of sports science. Although, Ang ended his work at the NOC of Cambodia in 2011, he also helped and consult to establish several national sports federations. During the 32nd SEA Games, which Cambodia hosted, Mr. Sok Ang was appointed as an assistant to H.E. Ouk Sethycheat, the Director General of Directorate General of Sports and Deputy Secretary General of the Cambodia Organizing Committee for the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (CAMSOC), in charge of sport technical, especially to focus on the Technical Handbook of all participated sports. He was assigned to the OCIC Field Inspection Team. As the result, he successfully produces the Technical Handbook with the team, and coordinated and encouraged the OCR team to win 1 bronze medal with breaking the world record, as well as led the fencing team to win 2 bronze medals.
Although Mr. Sok Ang currently does not hold any position in the government, based on the above achievements, the FFC believes that he is a suitable candidate for the election as an executive member of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia.
However, Mr. Sok Ang received only 3 votes in the election.
