The 12th National Fencing Championship 2026 Officially Kicks Off to Assess Capabilities and Raise Standards Toward the International Level

Phnom Penh, Cambodia, 31 July 2026

The 12th National Fencing Championship has officially commenced, running from July 31 to August 2, 2026, at the Auditorium of the Royal University of Phnom Penh. Organized in accordance with the annual action plan of the Fencing Federation of Cambodia, this major annual event primarily aims to assess the technical capabilities and progress of Fencers from various clubs across the country, as well as to scout outstanding fencers to join the national team in preparation for upcoming international competitions.

Beyond assessing athlete capabilities, the event serves as a crucial opportunity to train and enhance the capacity of technical officials and referees. This ensures higher standards of officiating and builds the capacity to host international-level competitions in the future.

This year's 12th edition has garnered significant interest and widespread participation from member clubs and associations. A total of 89 Fencers (including 38 female fencers) from 10 clubs and associations are competing, including:

  1. Panda Fencing Club

  2. Bun Rany Hun Sen Koh Dach Fencing Club

  3. Hysa Fencing Club

  4. Western Fencing Club

  5. CamEd Fencing Club

  6. Samdech Euv Fencing Club (Siem Reap)

  7. Stung Treng Fencing Association

  8. Ministry of Interior Fencing Association

  9. Ministry of National Defense Fencing Club

  10. Hosanna Fencing Club

Regarding the competition events, all Fencers are competing across 10 disciplines, which include 6 individual events and 4 team events. It is worth noting that fencing is an Olympic sport featuring a total of 12 disciplines (6 individual and 6 team events).

The Fencing Federation of Cambodia has expressed high ambitions, stating that the 12th National Fencing Championship 2026 will be set as the "minimum baseline standard" for future tournaments, with the ultimate goal of achieving international hosting standards. To realize this objective, the federation will continue to focus heavily on training technical officials, coaches, referees, technical officer, and fencers to elevate the technical standard of Cambodian fencing to a truly international level.
