Athlete Faber Strengthens His Abilities with Three Consecutive Gold Medals
Phnom Penh, 16 June 2026
Athlete Faber has strengthened his abilities by securing a total of 3 consecutive gold medals. Most recently, on June 14, 2026, Faber won a gold medal at the Mendaleno Fencing Tournament in the Philippines. This competition was a club-level tournament featuring a total of 11 events. In the Men's Individual Épée event specifically, 14 athletes from 6 clubs across the country participated.
This marks the third consecutive gold medal for the fencer, following his championship victory in the Men's Épée event at the 5th Western Fencing Championships in Cambodia. Prior to that, in mid-May, he defeated a Spanish fencer with a score of 15-13 at the EXCALIBUR X ESTUDIO DE ESPADA FENCING TOURNAMENT, also held in the Philippines.
These achievements are the direct result of Faber's rigorous training in both the Philippines and Singapore, undertaken to prepare for various international competitions scheduled by the Fencing Federation of Cambodia for 2026.
Faber expressed his immense joy at achieving these excellent results for a third time. He remains positive despite losing the opportunity to participate in the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan, due to a recent decision made by the Ministry of Education Youth and Sport and the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia.
He stated that he will continue to push himself to train even harder, setting his sights on major upcoming milestones:
The 2028 Olympic Games in the United States
The 34th Southeast Asian Games (2027) in Malaysia
The Southeast Asian Fencing Championships (2026)
Mr. Sok Ang, speaking on behalf of the fencing coaches, expressed his delight at Faber's outstanding results and the noticeable improvements in his technique.
"We will closely monitor his technique and development at the upcoming 12th National Fencing Championships at the end of July 2026."
While the cancellation of participation in certain events by the Ministry and the Olympic Committee has impacted the Federation's plans, all coaches and fencers remain dedicated and continue to train diligently for other competitions under the Federation's governance.
