Fencing Federation Plans to Participate in Student Achievement Exhibition on Koh Dach
Phnom Penh, 15 June 2026
Mr. Sok Ang, a senior official of the Fencing Federation of Cambodia, held a preliminary discussion with Mr. Khon Sokha, the Principal of Bun Rany Hun Sen Koh Dach High School. The meeting focused on organizing a fencing promotion at the high school for the upcoming student achievement exhibition, scheduled for the third weekend of July 2026.
The purpose of the discussion was to understand the event program and arrange a suitable presentation for the exhibition. This initiative follows a request from Ms. Sreng Sonita, a student at the school and a fencer who has won many gold medals at the youth level.
Mr. Khon Sokha expressed that the school takes great pride in Ms. Sonita's hard work in training and her achievement of winning multiple medals for the high school. He hopes that, following the Federation's participation in this exhibition, more students will understand fencing and join training.
Background Information:
Around 10 student-athletes originally started training together in fencing back in 2019 at Koh Oknha Tei Primary School. However, because the coach did not have enough time to manage and teach, the fencers gradually dropped out. Eventually, only two athletes remained: Ms. Sreng Sonita and Ms. Van Kaknika, who returned to train and compete representing Bun Rany Hun Sen Koh Dach High School.
At just 14 years old, both athletes have demonstrated a deep passion for the sport of fencing, along with a strong desire to help develop and promote it in their hometown, specifically aiming to bring more medals back to their school.
