Fencing Approved by the Ministry for the 5th National Games

In early July 2026, the Fencing Federation of Cambodia (FFC) received great news from the Ministry of Education Youth and Sports, having been granted permission to organize competitions in the 5th National Games 2026, which will take place from November 6 to November 15, 2026, under the theme: “Sports For National Unity".”
Mr. Sok Ang, a senior official of FFC, attended a meeting invitation from the Department of Event Organizing and Sports Statistics. The meeting aimed to introduce tournament regulations, determine the number of participating delegates, and share other information related to this edition of the National Games.
Mr. Huot Sengtry confirmed that the National Games represent the highest level of competition in Cambodia. Therefore, all sporting events are required to follow international tournament standards. Regarding participation, athletes must hold a Cambodian National Identity Card or a Cambodian passport and represent the sports councils of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of National Defense, and any of the 25 capital and provinces.
Meanwhile, Mr. Sok Ang stated that the Ministry of Education Youth and Sports mandates the National Games to be held every two years, and fencing has been included in the event since 2022. In the past, the federation organized competitions in accordance with international fencing standards, maintaining a baseline equivalent to at least Southeast Asian regional levels.
"Even though this year's competition faces financial challenges, the federation will organize it even better and encourage more participants than before," Mr. Ang added.
Following the meeting, the federation will invite coaches, teachers, and representatives from ministries, the capital, and provinces to disseminate the information and prepare for the competition in a timely manner.
According to the general technical regulations, the timeline for registrations is as follows:
August 7, 2026: Deadline for entry by sports.
August 8, 2026: Deadline for entry by number.
September 30, 2026: Final deadline for entry by name.
