Fencing is officially in the National primary school and University sports events 2026

Mr. Sok Ang, Secretary-General, and Mr. Thong Tang Chin, Treasurer, attended a meeting at the Department of Sport Event Management and Statistics in the morning of January 27, 2026, at the Department's own meeting hall. The meeting focused on discussing the sports that the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has approved to participate in the two major national multi-sport events, the National Primary School Sports Games, which will be held from May 1 to 9, 2026, and the 3rd National University Games, held from June 5 to 13, 2026, both will be held in Phnom Penh.

According to a recap during the meeting from Mr. Huot Sengtry, Director of the Department of Sports Event Management and Statistics Management, Fencing is included in both Games that will be held in May and June. The decision by the Top Management shows the recognition of the progress and development of fencing in Cambodia, from grassroots to elite levels, including student sports.

Mr. Sok Ang stated that Fencing has been included in primary school sports events since 2024, with only about 45 fencers, but in 2025, the number increased to about 65 participants. For The NUG, the first participated in 2024, there are about 60 fencers. This year, we expect to see up to 80 participants.
