Four More Fencing Equipment Sets Donated to Hosana Club to Support Grassroots Growth
MAY 7TH, 2025
Phnom Penh, May 4, 2025 — In a meaningful gesture toward the continued growth of fencing in Cambodia, the Cambodia Fencing Federation has donated four additional sets of fencing equipment to the Hosana Club, a pioneering institution in the sport’s early development in the Kingdom.
This donation is part of a broader initiative to support young athletes and clubs with limited resources. It follows a generous contribution last year by Filipino fencer Ashley Marrison, who donated 10 full fencing gear sets during the 4th Western Cup. Her gift, offered through her university scholarship fund, was intended to help develop the sport she loves in communities that lack access to proper equipment. Ashley’s donation was received warmly and distributed among clubs and athletes who are passionate about fencing but face financial barriers in acquiring the necessary gear.
Among the recipients was Fue Et Sang, a newly established club that currently trains in public spaces due to the absence of a dedicated facility. In a show of support, the federation previously allocated two equipment sets to help the club maintain regular training sessions.
Now, the focus turns to Hosana Club, Cambodia’s first fencing club and the only private school to incorporate fencing into its curriculum both during and after school hours since 2011. The club has remained a central force in national fencing development, continuously training students and actively competing in national tournaments year after year. With the largest number of registered young fencers under its wing, the club’s contribution to the sport’s grassroots development is unmatched.
The additional four equipment sets provided on May 4 aim to strengthen Hosana’s capacity to support its growing student base and ensure that no child with a passion for fencing is left behind due to lack of equipment.
This act of solidarity not only highlights the spirit of sharing within Cambodia’s fencing community but also underscores the Federation’s commitment to inclusive development and long-term sustainability of the sport.
