Michael Harrison Expands Equipment Sponsorship to Underserved Fencing Clubs Across Cambodia
22 July 2025
Support Delivered in Collaboration with the Cambodian Fencing Federation
In a continued act of generosity and commitment to the development of fencing in Cambodia, Mr. Michael Harrison, father of Filipino-Australian fencer Ashley Harrison, has extended his support by donating an additional 10 sets of fencing equipment to clubs in need. This contribution has been facilitated through a coordinated effort with the Cambodian Fencing Federation.
This is not the first time the Harrison family has given back to the community. During the recent 4th Western Fencing Cup, Ashley Harrison herself used part of her personal scholarship funds to purchase 10 sets of gear, which were donated to clubs struggling with resources.
In line with the Federation’s policy, newly established fencing clubs, particularly those in remote or underserved areas, are eligible to receive essential equipment to support their training and development. These initiatives are crucial to making the sport more accessible nationwide, especially for young athletes who lack the means to participate fully.
This latest round of support will soon be delivered to a group of carefully selected clubs that have been identified as high-need beneficiaries. The Federation is currently finalizing the distribution plan to ensure the resources reach the athletes and coaches who need them most.
Mr. Harrison’s continued commitment is a shining example of how international families connected to Cambodian fencing are playing a pivotal role in uplifting the next generation of talent. His support not only provides the tools needed for training but also inspires a culture of giving and collaboration within the fencing community.
As the sport continues to grow in Cambodia, such partnerships—between families, athletes, and the Federation—remain vital in ensuring that fencing becomes a sport of opportunity for all, not just a privileged few.
