NUM Takes the Lead on First Day
Phnom Penh, 6 June 2026
One gold, two silver, and one bronze were won by the National University of Management (NUM) in the fencing competition at the 3rd National University and Technical Secondary School Games, securing them the number one spot on the leaderboard. Meanwhile, Life University also claimed one gold and one bronze medal, while Western University Kampong Cham, Western University Kandal, and Asia Euro University ranked third, with one bronze medal each.
The first day of the competition kicked off with two events: the Women's Épée Individual, featuring 12 athletes from 7 higher education institutions, and the Men's Sabre Individual, with 9 athletes also from 7 institutions.
Fencing has been included in the University Games since 2024. At that time, the National University of Management won only one bronze medal and had just one female athlete competing. However, due to the sport's growing popularity and increased student participation in training, a total of six athletes from the university registered to fence this year. This is a remarkable achievement that highlights the university's dedication to the sports sector and its contribution to developing human resources in both academics and professional sports.
